cigars: an aside

I by no means will make the Pittsburgh Pipe Club the Pittsburgh Cigar Club (PPC sounds so much better than PCC), but I wanted to take a moment to share some recent discoveries in the world of cigars, and the enjoyment they can offer. While the pipe is something that takes focus, time, and attention to detail, the cigar is tobacco that is easily accessible by anyone. I noticed this over the past weekend as I enjoyed a few cigars with my fiance and her parents in celebration of our engagement. A pipe never really would have fit into this scene, but the cigar is widely seen as a celebratory device.

This activity was simply a perfect excuse for people to spend time together, focusing on nothing but the cigar, conversation, and companionship. This sounds very similar to the pipe smoking of this fine group of gentlemen, but the cigar can widen that group to anyone, and I commend it for that.

And in case anyone was wondering, we were enjoyed some Camacho cigars picked up at the last smokeworks event. I even got them for free*.
