Wow has this weather been awesome!! I have been outside smoking my pipes on a daily basis. On Friday the 2nd I smoked 4 different pipes out on my back patio. After a long and stressful winter (family health issues), I am just so enjoying this Spring!

they just keep getting better
PPC met yesterday at Allegheny Smokeworks in Blawnox, PA. I believe that we had a record number of pipemen on hand. I lost count actually. More importantly than numbers was the excellent fellowship among the men. Conversations just seemed to flow as we shared tobacco and compared pipes. The lounge area, front foyer and retail areas were filled. Thomas James, pipe craftsman, brought along some of his new briar creations. Also, Rob from Clarion, PA joined us and I believe he represents the furthest distance traveled for a PPC gathering.
We had some discussion about a holiday gathering so I will be researching some options for us.
It was great to see all of you.

here’s me pete…still unsmoked I might add…

The New Pete and Muncie, Indiana
Ya it took me 9 hours today to get from Pittsburgh to Muncie, IN and no I was not driving. So I get to my hotel and guess what, no smoking rooms, a real bummer. I brought along my new Pete to try out on this business trip. It’s a mid-range Pete that I picked-up on Cup O Joes. I was inspired to add a Pete to my collection after reading the article, “Pilgrimage To Peterson’s of Dublin”, in the October 09 issue of The Pipe Collector. I was also motivated to buy my first rusticated pipe after meeting with John Seiler and Bill Kotyk and reading their article, “We Like Them Rough”, also in the above mentioned publication and issue.
So after overindulging in Shrimp Scampi and Guiness at Red Lobster, I thought perhaps I could smoke a bowl outside of the hotel. Well by the time I get to the hotel it’s raining and blowing and I am just exhausted. I guess that Pete will have to wait until tomorrow.
Good Night Pipers…

Saturday’s Gathering
Wow! What a great time was had this past Saturday morning as The Pittsburgh Pipe Club gathered again at Allegheny Smokeworks. It was wonderful to see all of you there. The pipe collections that were showcased were amazing. The stories from the CORPS show in Richmond were captivating. We welcomed some new folks on saturday and really had pipe smokers in all of the lounge area and most of the store. Also, local pipe maker Thomas James brought some of his briar creations. What beautiful work he does!
Next month we will be meeting again at Allegheny Smokeworks in Blawnox PA on Saturday, November 14 from 10AM until noon. We welcome you to become involved in the friendliest pipe club around! Our format is pretty low key and you can count on fresh donuts and coffee and lots of tobacco to sample.
